Wailea Golf Club Wailea, HI Wailea, HI Full-time Full-time $60,000 - $80,000 a year $60,000 - $80,000 a year 6 days ago 6 days ago 6 days ago The Golf Merchandise Manager is responsible for the success and viability of the retail outlet merchandise concession at three retail shop locations (Gold/Emerald golf shop, Blue golf shop, Tennis shop).
This person plans, purchases, coordinates, and merchandises inventory of retail products offered for sale.
Tracks, documents, manages, and promotes retail sales and implements inventory control.
Maximize sales and profitability through the development and implementation of strategies, analysis and appropriate reaction to sales trends.
Acts as Personal Shopper to guests during peak purchasing times.
Primary Goals/
Responsibilities:
Oversees retail concession to achieve its established mission within the operations.
Oversees development of buying plans and all retail related purchasing Presents a diverse and desirable array of shop relevant equipment, apparel, and accessories in line with customer/ industry demands Maintains levels of product appropriate for the season and level of traffic through each shop Maintains appropriate mix and levels of regular stock and seasonal products, within budgetary guidelines, while maintaining cost of goods sold percentage.
Purchases supplies, fixtures, staff uniforms, and fitting systems to provide conducive sales environment and promote sales Maximizes financial performance by developing open-to-buy plans within budgetary and cash flow guidelines Develops and executes general and seasonal merchandise plans, visual presentation guidelines and pricing strategies Trains, motivates and develops shop sales staff to ensure effective sales, service, performance, techniques and product knowledge.
Maintains an attractive and orderly appearance in and around each shop Maintains product documentation from purchase to sale; including purchase orders, receiving records, invoice validation/payment, inventory records and special order records to document merchandise history Conducts accurate and timely physical inventory counts Assists in the development of necessary systems utilizing POS to safeguard inventories and cash Monitors safeguarding of inventory and assets to reduce loss from theft, pilferage, defective/damaged goods returns and markdowns Ensures customer database includes and tracks important dates, spending, sizes, preferences Establishes sales and inventory recordkeeping policies and procedures, provides training and ensures compliance by staff Develops short and long range sales marketing plans supporting departmental goals, directions, and priorities Develops strategies to ensure customer satisfaction and maximize business performance and profitability Manages vendor performance to maximize profitability and achieve financial objectives Maintains collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors Establishes pricing structures for all inventory and special order items in consideration of competitive prices and generally accepted profit margins.
Keeps abreast of industry and competition pricing structures to set prices for maximizing sales potential Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion and display plans; analyzing operating and financial statements for profitability ratios Analyzes sales and studies trends to determine additional needed sales promotions, markdowns and clearance sales Attends approved merchandise buying shows and conferences within the limits of the budget Establishes and/or ensures employee purchase policies are adhered to including accurate accounting of employee purchases Achieves and or exceeds merchandise turn ratio as established annually Other duties as necessary and/or assigned by manager Qualifications/Skills:
Fundamental knowledge of the game of golf and retail merchandising concession operations Experience in retail purchasing, buying and inventory management Supervisory experience - working with and motivating a team of individuals towards a common goal Act as a role model for all employees by demonstrating the behavior and work ethic expected of all employees Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills Self-motivated with desire to promote and market Service and customer focused attitude Experienced in written and oral business communications Experienced computer user including; Microsoft Word, Excel, POS system(s), inventory management software.

Email, Internet, tournament and database Physical Requirements:
Regularly experiences sitting at a computer, attention to detail, vision, hearing, concen tra tion and alertness, mathematical ability, working indoors in an air-condi tioned office, reading in small amounts at a time.
Frequently experiences walking to other work sites, speaking and talking to others, working with and handling merchandise, bending, twisting, reaching, use of a multi-line telephone, and calculator.
Occasionally experiences, walking/standing for extended periods at a time, climbing steps, writing and composing written language, reaching, stooping, pushing/pulling of 21-50 pounds (file cabinet drawers), lifting/carrying 0-20 pounds (merchandise deliveries), heat and sunlight, wet and other environmental conditions typically associated with working around golf courses.
Visual capabilities required:
good to excellent vision, depth perception, wide field of vision, color vision.
Job will require working at multiple locations - Wailea gold/emerald course, Wailea Blue course, Wailea Tennis & Pickleball.
Job experiences approximately 8-10 hours daily indoors.
